Globus Toolkit

You need to have a minimal Globus installation in order to work with Globus. For test purposes you can use the globus 4.0 installation on the reference installation frontend dgiref-login.fzk.de. The fronted can be accessed by GSI-SSH (Port 2222) like the following:

$GLOBUS_LOCATION/bin/gsissh -p 2222 dgiref-login.fzk.de

WARNING:

  • Due of incompatibilities between Globus 4.2 and Globus 4.0, you can access Globus 4.2 resources only from a Globus 4.2 client installation.

gLite

To work with gLite you need to install a gLite User interface on your own computer. If you cannot, or do not want to, install the gLite 3.1 User Interface software package on your own computer, you will additionally need to get access to your site's UI if available (ask your site admin), or use the public D-Grid UI ui.d-grid.de. This UI can be accessed by GSI-SSH (Port 2222) like the following:

$GLOBUS_LOCATION/bin/gsissh -p 2222 ui.d-grid.de

Once logged in a gLite UI you will have access to all the grid middleware clients and be able to work on the grid. For detailed instructions on submitting jobs and other grid tasks, please see the gLite User Guide.

Unicore

A various of Unicore clients are provided with Unicore. For more information and to download your preferred client please see the Unicore User Guide.

dCache

The dCache Client is already included with the gLite User Interface Package. Please see the Glite Section

Ogsa-DAI

GSISSH

In order to get interactive access to ressources using GSI-SSH you need to install the GSI-SSH client on your own computer. The gsissh client is usually included with every globus installation. Alternatively you can use GSI-SSH Term a java based GSI-SSH Client (working also under Windows). For more informations please refer to GSI-SSH Term documentation
