Resource registration
To make a compute or a storage resource available for use in D-Grid, every resource provider need to register the resource using the D-Grid resource and user management portal. The following steps are needed for the registration:
- Step 1. set up a valid Grid server certificate
- Before a resource may be registered, every resource must firstly have an available Grid server certificate, requested by the administrator of this resource.
- Step 2. preparation
The administrator must:
- have a valid Grid user certificate which must be imported in its browser
- know the Distinguished Name (DN) of the grid-server resource's certificate
- create an HTML page describing the resource in a file, which is transferred to the server later during the registration. An example of a resource description is here. It should include information about the CPU types, the number of CPUs per node, the number of nodes, memory, etc.
- Step 3. registration
- If the previous step conditions are met, the administrator can login to the to the "D-Grid resource and user management" portal available here using the imported user certificate and complete the registration by filling the required forms.
Resource modification
Providing a further middleware
If you have registered a resource for the use with a middleware using the D-Grid resource and user management portal and you want to add the support for another middleware for that resource, you need to fill out the following electronic form after choosing the appropriate resource using the link here. To finish this step, you need also to upload the public server certificate for the middleware server.
Changing the resource description
You can upload a HTML page containing the new resource description by using the link here
Updating expired server certificates
Every time the public host certificate have been expired resource administrators will be informed. To update the certificate please send an email to ch.dohmen(at)fz-juelich.de with the public key attached.
Changing the DN for a middleware server
In case when the DN's server certificate for a middleware server have changed (e.g when middleware server have a new host name), please send an email to ch.dohmen(at)fz-juelich.de containing the new DN for the appropriate resource.
Adding support for more VOs
In order to allow new D-Grid Virtual Organizations VOs to access a registered D-Grid Resource, the administrator can access the link here and add the appropriate VOs for this resource.
